World Aids Day

On the 1st December each year, if on no other day, we pause and reflect on the issues facing those of us living with HIV.
Apart from the health issues, there is the still present stigma of living openly with a misunderstood condition among people who remain ignorant of the basic facts of the virus.

This is thrown into sharp focus by a video released recently by GMFA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AospP51bkcs).

In it a number of HIV+ guys give their reactions to a series of ignorant, spiteful comments sent to people via dating apps. It is educational not only about HIV but also about just how unpleasant ignorance can be.

My advice? Don’t be ignorant about HIV. Not only will you be better able to protect yourself from infection, but you won’t find yourself coming across as an idiot.
